The First Tee uses golf to teach youth ages 7 to 18 life lessons and leadership skills. Teaming up with experts in positive youth development, The First Tee helps youth become good golfers and even better peopleThe game is unique from other sports because players learn values like honesty and responsibility by calling penalties on themselves and reporting their own score. The sport is a perfect platform for helping youth develop character because just like in life, players experience the highs and lows of the game.

ON Golf Courses:

Like-Skills Curriculum

The First Tee chapters deliver the Life Skills Experience curriculum. This curriculum was developed by experts in the field of positive youth development and is delivered by coaches trained through The First Tee Coach Program.
The First Tee Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that differentiates The First Tee from other youth initiatives and junior golf programs. It helps young people develop character by focusing on Nine Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.

IN Schools:

National Schools program

The First Tee National School Program brings The First Tee to your child’s gym during physical education class. Through safe, fun activities, elementary students are learning the basic skills of the lifelong sport of golf.  By teaching elementary students The First Tee Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits, we’re putting them on the course to a healthy and active lifestyle.

We believe our values extend beyond the golf course, which is why we launched a program to meet youth where they spend time. The First Tee DRIVE is the perfect activity for young people because it Develops Rewarding, Inspiring Values for Everyone.

Specifically designed for youth-serving organizations, like the Y and the Boys & Girls Club, The First Tee DRIVE gives kids the chance to learn about golf and develop character through fun golf games. We supply the curriculum, the equipment and the training for youth leaders to deliver the program. Much like our other programs, The First Tee DRIVE is designed to introduce kids to golf and The First Tee Nine Core Values — honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.
